SUGGESTED REMARKS FOR MAYOR MARION BARRY MONETA SLEET, EXHIBIT OPENING RECEPTION MARTIN LUTHER KING MEMORIAL LIBRARY FEBRUARY 2, 1988 It is with great pleasure to have this fine photographic exhibition by Moneta (pronounced Moneeta) Sleet here in the nation's capital at one of our city institutions, the Martin Luther King Memorial Library of the District of Columbia Public Library. It is especially appropriate to have it here during Black History month where it will serve as a poignant message to all, of the proud heritage of the black people. Moneta Sleet, who was the first black American to win the Pulitzer Prize in photography, has been a staff photographer with Johnson
