The following collections are a selection of images contained in records held in the Office of Public Records and Archives. These images document city life, the work of the government and reflect the changing landscape of Washington, D.C. 

Illegal Parking in Washington, DC

From the records of the Department of Public Works - Engineering Department, these photographs document illegal parking throughout the District of Columbia between 1948 - 1950. The images were created as a part of a study on improving parking options in the area and managing illegal parking. These pictures provide a look at the city as it was during this time period. There are also a few photos of legacy vehicles purchased by the department in 1908. 

Early DC Board of Health Negatives

Historic images from the DC Board of Health dating from 1890 - 1916. Included are images of Glendale Hospital and statistical charts of death rates for various diseases.
