THIS' IS A GREAT DAY FOR WASHINGTON, FOR METRO AND THE ENTIRE METROPOLITAN REGION- THE DISTRICT UF COLUMBIA HAS WAITED FUR THIS DAY AND EVENT FOR QUITE SOME TIME, AND WE ARE OVERJOYED THAT IT HAS COME. WE ARE OVERJOYED BECAUSE THE RESIDENTS OF THIS COMMUNITY AND THE OTHER GREEN LINE COMMUNITIES IN ANACUSTIA AND SOUTHWEST ARE THE MOST TRANSIT DEPENDENT CITIZENS IN THE ENTIRE METROPOLITAN REGION, AND BY 1991 THEY WILL BE ABLE TO TRAVEL THROUGHOUT THIS REGION ON
